How to Talk About Books

Filed under: Uncategorized — Mrs. Murphy @ 11:43 am

When you talk about the book at a Bulldog Readers Book Club meeting, or fill out a Book Club bookmark, here are some things to remember:

  1. Summarize the story or content of the book in a few brief sentences.  Don’t tell every last detail — and DON’T give away the ending.
  2. Spend some time telling how the book affected you.  How did it make you feel?  Why did you like it or not like it?
  3. How does the book compare to others that may be similar or by the same author?
  4. If the book is illustrated, evaluate the quality of the illustrations.
  5. Would you recommend the book to others?  Who else might enjoy it?
