  1. What is a bonemender? Do you think a person is born with this ability, or is training required? Please give a thoughtful response… not just a “yes” or “no”!!

  2. A bonemender is a healer, someone whose lifestyle it is to use knowledge, herbcraft, and other sources to help those with physical injuries. Training is definitely required - not even Gabrielle went entirely on talent. But some are predisposed (likely by nurture rather than nature) to liking/being good at it just like any other position.

I have not quite completed this book, but I love it. I have a few qualms with the author about dialogue and behavior, but those are more than made up for by the story line. At first I had thought it was going to be a typical ‘love song’, but as the story progresses it turns out to be a little more complicated. I hate to say it, but I really enjoyed her father’s death. Not typical at all.

I’m glad this isn’t a solitary book, I’m almost done with it and there’s so much left to know!
